Cat5e Network Cables
When you are setting up a new network in your home or a business you cannot count on wireless connectivity to do the job. In fact most networks in use today are run using CAT5e network cables as they are designed to work with almost every type of networking equipment available and provide optimal connectivity speeds with a minimum of cross talk and noise within the network. This is very important as both cross talk and noise within the network can cause data loss and slower overall system performance. Before the introduction of CAT5e network cables , networks were run using with either CAT3 or CAT5 cable and while CAT5 was significantly better than CAT3 neither one of them was considered good enough for the newer networking speeds possible with 100/1000 BASE-T networking equipment being used in most applications. When you are assembling a network system you want to make sure that you use the best cable you can for the system you are working with. This way you know that you will get the fastest communications speeds possible for the equipment you have to work with.
CAT5e networking cables are similar in concept to the old telephone cables in that they both consist of twisted pairs of wires. However where the cable used to connect your phone to the wall contains two pairs of twisted wires and only one pair is used CAT5e cables consist of four pairs of twisted wires and all of them are used to make sure that you get optimum speed. The reason the wires are twisted is to provide limited shielding through the use of the magnetic fields generated by the flow of electricity through each twisted pair. When CAT5e network cables first became available they were relatively expensive as they were the latest technology available.
Today they have are commonplace and in the process of being replaced by CAT6 and 7 cables as equipment speeds are getting faster placing more demands on the connection cables being used. The latest Gigabit 10GbaseT systems are made to use the CAT6 cables and anything less will slow the system down making the expense of the new equipment a waste of money. The CAT5e network cables offer more bandwidth as well which is partially why they can offer an increase in overall speed. While CAT5e cables are fully compatible with the Gigabit 1000 Base-T systems, which is what they were created for, the latest standards established for them no longer even recognize their predecessor the CAT5 cable. So when you are ready to set up your new network it is very important that you make sure you are using the best cable for the equipment you are working with, If you are preparing to set up your network and need a source of custom built CAT5e network cables, look no further than JEM Electronics. With over 25 years in the business and factories in both the US and Mexico they can create any length and style of cable you need for your installation at a price you can afford.
